Meeting with YSU students awarded Kenn Kakosian Family Scholarship
The meeting with YSU students awarded the Kenn Kakosian Family Scholarship was held in the lobby of the YSU Academic Council Session Hall. At the meeting, the students presented the ideas and projects they implemented within the framework of the scholarship aimed at the advancement of provinces and communities.
Head of YSU International Cooperation Office Alexander Margarov, speaking about the work done by students as part of the scholarship competition announced by the Kenn Kakosian Family Scholarship Fund, noted that such meetings aim to record and encourage the work done by students, which typically inspire enthusiasm among them.
"The Ken Kakosyan Family Fund has been providing scholarships to YSU students for two years. The scholarship, as financial aid, is awarded to high-achieving students demonstrating significant involvement in their communities. Thanks to the knowledge and skills acquired at the university, the students initiate projects in provinces, contributing to the formation of community solidarity and the proper performance of community work," emphasized Alexander Margarov.
At the meeting, the students presented the projects that they have carried out in the provinces until now.
Margarita Abrahamyan, a 2nd-year undergraduate student at the YSU Faculty of Sociology, is working to ensure the engagement of children with special educational needs in Aknalich village of Armavir Province.
"This is the first year that I have received a scholarship. Within the framework of the project, I work to ensure the engagement of children living in our community through entertainment, games, and camps. I have already completed the second stage of my projectand intend to expand its implementation to other villages in Armavir Province. Unlike urban children, who have the opportunity to visit various centers, the problem of engagement of children living in villages and facing special educational needs, has not been solved, and I have always been concerned about that issue," said Margarita.
Manuk Abgaryan, a 2nd-year undergraduate student at the YSU Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, who is the founder of the "Araratyan" group, told about the work he did in his community- Vanashen.
"The members of the group I created are volunteers and we teach Mathematics. Our goal is to help high school students get admission to university without additional paid lessons with a tutor. During the courses, we introduce students to the IT sphere and data science. Currently, we have 5 students in the group," shared Manuk and added that although they faced difficulties at the beginning, they were able to solve them later.
The Kenn Kakosian Family Scholarship Fund offers scholarships to students enrolled at Yerevan State University, American University of Armenia, and Armenian National Agrarian University who reside in their provinces. These scholarships cover students' tuition fees. Recipients of the scholarship are expected to implement their capacity-building programs.
Students applying for the scholarship presented how their studies and research projects would contribute to the improvement of community life and prosperity.
