International cooperation
Advancing international relations as a core objective
Joint online meetings are becoming essential tools for establishing and developing international cooperation in education. An online meeting between YSU rector, the head of the International Cooperation Office, and the deans of the Faculties of European Languages and Communication, and International Relations with partners from the Dominican Republic marked a significant step in expanding international ties and implementing new programs.

The Rector of Yerevan State University, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, the Head of the International Cooperation Office, Alexander Markarov, and the Deans of the Faculties of European Languages and Communication, and International Relations, Gevorg Barseghyan and Tigran Yepremyan, held an online meeting with the Rector of the Institute of Higher Education in Diplomatic and Consular Training of the Dominican Republic, Jose Rafael Espaillat, and the vice-rector, as well as the Chargé d'Affaires of the Dominican Republic in Armenia, Sandra Santana, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation. The meeting was initiated by the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Armenia.
Purpose and Topics Discussed
The primary aim of the meeting was to explore the paths for new collaborations and projects. According to Alexander Markarov, the parties presented the priorities and activities of their respective universities and expressed their willingness to cooperate in areas of mutual interest, as well as to develop new programs together.
New Auditorium to Serve as a Platform for Strengthening International Relations
The representative of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Armenia had previously met with Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and Dean Gevorg Barseghyan last year. Following these discussions, a proposal was made to establish an auditorium (funded with the support of the Honorary Consul of the Dominican Republic in Armenia, Mikayel Karapetyan) to strengthen educational ties with Dominican Republic universities. The Dominican side proposed two main educational program directions: European languages and communication, as well as international relations, which will serve as the primary areas of collaboration.
Progressive Steps Towards Developing Cooperation
On February 20, the ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Armenia will visit Yerevan State University for a meeting with Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and to participate in the official opening ceremony of the new auditorium. Further developments regarding the collaboration will be reported following the ambassador's visit.
