YSU and Prosecutor General's Office sign memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in legal education, research, and practice
The Prosecutor General of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, the Rector of Yerevan State University, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, and the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Harutyun Khachikyan, have signed a memorandum of understanding with a view to developing an effective, constructive, and continuous culture of cooperation in legal education, research, and practical training.

The memorandum signed between Yerevan State University and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia aims to strengthen the cooperation between the two institutions, support the improvement of the quality of legal education, and ensure the training of legal professionals with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Emphasizing the approach adopted by YSU Faculty of Law to prepare legal professionals equipped with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills, as well as the constitutional mission of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia, the importance of its exceptional powers, and its leading role in the fight against crime and the protection of state interests, both parties will cooperate in a number of areas.
Firstly, it is planned to organize professional practice for students aimed at developing their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice. To deepen students' knowledge, joint lectures will be held by invited professors, theorists, and practicing lawyers.
Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, the Rector of Yerevan State University, highly appreciated the continuity of cooperation with the Prosecutor General's Office and emphasized that the signing of this memorandum will open new horizons, deepening and strengthening the cooperation between the two institutions.

"This trilateral memorandum will provide our students with the opportunity to learn more about the activities and functions of the Prosecutor General's Office and to gain practical skills. It is important for us that our students not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also have the opportunity to apply it in practice. Within the framework of the cooperation, the best graduates of the faculty will have the opportunity to join the Prosecutor General's Office, contributing to the continued development and effective work of this important institution," stated Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.
Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan highlighted the signing of the memorandum as an important step towards developing the existing cooperation with the alma mater. In this context, Anna Vardapetyan emphasized the significance of the trilateral declaration signed in 2024 between Yerevan State University Foundation, the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia, and the Armenian Bar Association, noting that work is actively underway to establish a legal laboratory, affiliated with Yerevan State University, at the Prosecutor General's Office.

"We are already carrying out renovation work on the infrastructure. We are committed to having a modern, well-equipped laboratory, where students undergoing practice at the Prosecutor's Office, candidates for prosecutors, and current prosecutors will develop and advance their professional knowledge and practical skills in cybercrime and human rights protection in international judicial bodies," said the prosecutor general and expressed gratitude to the alma mater and YSU Faculty of Law for the initiative.

Harutyun Khachikyan, Dean of YSU Faculty of Law, valuing the cooperation and the programs to be implemented within its framework, said, "The cooperation between Yerevan State University, the Faculty of Law, and the Prosecutor General's Office has always been at a high level. Of course, it has manifested in various forms, but now we are embarking on a new, important phase of joint activities that will make our cooperation more effective and contribute to achieving the expected results."
The parties will also organize conferences, discussions, moot court competitions, and other events through joint efforts, which will facilitate the exchange of professional experience and the introduction of new ideas in the legal field.
According to the memorandum, joint research and academic projects will also be carried out, and scientific articles, monographs, and practical guides will be published in various academic journals.
The parties expressed hope that by mutual agreement, they will be able to identify additional areas of cooperation with the aim of expanding the scope of joint programs and initiatives.
