YSU Institute of Humanities Research summarizes past year’s achievements at its annual conference
The Faculty of Theology at Yerevan State University hosted the 2024 annual reporting conference of YSU Institute for Humanities Research. During the event, heads of the institute’s subdivisions presented comprehensive reports on the research activities conducted over the past year. In addition, several staff members delivered presentations on some of the more compelling topics studied during the reporting period.

Associate Professor Pargev Barseghyan, Head of the Chair of Religious Studies at YSU Faculty of Theology, stated: "This conference allows us to summarize the work carried out, present the results achieved, and acknowledge the contributions of each division. Moreover, presentations on broader, less narrowly specialized topics provide participants the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary discussions."
He highlighted that, despite being only two years old, the Institute for Humanities Research is one of YSU’s youngest academic structures and has already formed new departments, establishing itself as one of the university’s fastest-growing research units.
The conference featured several interdisciplinary presentations on diverse and engaging topics, including:
"The Black Child and Sacred Sites"
"The Megalithic Culture of Armenia"
"From Rallies to Conflict: Transformations of the Karabakh Issue in the Final Years of the USSR"
"The Devolution Discourse and Its Manifestations in Post-Brexit Scotland"
"A New Attempt to Solve the Mystery of Davit Anhaght"
"The Distribution of Armenians in Kartli and the Organization of Spiritual Life in the 16th–18th Centuries"
The annual conference of YSU Institute for Humanities Research opened up an opportunity to reflect on the past year’s work, highlight key achievements, and showcase the value of interdisciplinary research in the broader context of the development of the humanities.
