AN EVENT DEDICATED TO THE INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY WAS ORGANIZED AT THE FACULTY OF SOCIOLOGY

The event dedicated to the International Human Rights Day was organized by YSU Faculty of Sociology lecturer Liana Mkrtchyan in cooperation with SSS.

In recent years, the purpose of the traditional meeting at the Faculty of Sociology was to discuss the current challenges of human rights violations - the "COVID-19" epidemic, the 44-day Artsakh war, to outline mechanisms to mitigate them with the support of the UN, the Ombudsman and other structures.

"During the last two years we have gone through quite difficult processes from the point of view of human rights: epidemic and war. Therefore, it is very important to address the issue of human rights, because we need to understand how they are protected and the role of social workers," she said.

 Mkrtchyan added that there are many challenges in Armenia at present, but there are a number of structures that face them, defending fundamental and inalienable human rights.

Students discussed cases of epidemics, war, and post-war human rights abuses with experts.

Issues ranging from the right to life to the protection of property and property were also discussed.
