CERTIFICATE AWARD CEREMONY AT YSU CENTER FOR EUROPEAN STUDIES
The ceremony of awarding certificates to the students who participated in the "HELP" master's courses on the standards of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment took place at YSU.
The Council of Europe HELP online course on Standards of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment was successfully completed by a group of Armenian students, thanks to the initiative of the Yerevan State University, Centre for European Studies in Yerevan.
The event organized by YSU Center for European Studies was attended by Vladimir Martirosyan, Director of the Center, Martina Schmidt, Head of the Yerevan Office of the Council of Europe, Diana Ghazaryan, Senior Project Specialist at the Yerevan Office of the Council of Europe, Sergey Ghazinyan, Visiting Lecturer at the Center for European Studies.
Anna Medarska-Lazova, Deputy Head of the HELP Union, also participated online.
The participants of the event were welcomed by the Director of the Center for European Studies Vladimir Martirosyan, who emphasized the relevance of the HELP online courses in imparting knowledge on the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights. Mr. Martirosyan also explained the incorporation of HELP courses into the syllabus of the Centre’s programs, the HELP course on CPT standards being a pilot experience further to be followed by other courses.
In her welcoming address, Martina Schmidt highlighted the importance of the Council of Europe in the development of human rights, democracy, and rule of law, as well as the relevance, and availability of the HELP courses to push those values forward in the education of future legal professionals.
