"MEMBERSHIP OF YSU SSS ALLOWS EXPANDING SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY ON INTERNATIONAL PLATFORMS". VARDAN LABLAJIAN
Vardan Lablajyan is responsible for the external relations committee of the YSU Student Scientific Society. In the conversation with us, Vardan referred to his membership of YSU SSS, the formation of new connections with internationally recognized universities, and the strengthening of existing cooperation, as well as his plans for the future.
Vardan tells.
Entering Yerevan State University was not accidental.
I was admitted to the YSU Faculty of International Relations, because the "Political Science" specialty is quite practical and allows development in several directions, from a political analyst to a political journalist. I am sure that the knowledge given by YSU will become the basis of my career development.
I was acquainted with the scientific environment through the university.
One of the best opportunities provided by YSU is that you can carry out scientific activities during your student years. Since 2020, I have been in charge of the external relations committee of the YSU Student Scientific Society (before that, I worked in the Faculty of International Relations within the framework of the SSS). This was a new beginning of scientific activity for me.
Becoming the head of external relations of SSS, I started to get interested in international programs.
If I was not a member of SSS and I did not think about strengthening ties with foreign universities, then participating in international exchange programs would be just a trip for me. Coordinating the activities of establishment and development of new external relations of SSS with the exchange program in 2020, I visited Cyprus for the first time in March. The first visit to the university there was promising, university students showed great interest in YSU. However, the cooperation was interrupted for a while as contact with the outside world was cut off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our partnerships were strengthened later in 2021 after the pandemic restrictions were lifted. Despite such obstacles, the important thing is that the connection with various universities around the world continues and is getting stronger.
This year alone, I have been to about 30 countries of the world on exchange programs.
A large number of my visits to different countries were again due to being in charge of the external relations of YSU SSS. Being in each new country indicates the formation of new connections and collaborations, the goal of which is the international recognition of YSU in the future. As an Armenian, appearing on international platforms, participating in discussions on professional issues, and demonstrating the knowledge I have gained at YSU arouses interest in the university among many. This becomes an opportunity to present university life in all its aspects (high educational level, active student life, high involvement of student structures in the university decision-making process, etc.). According to me, foreigners see YSU as a university that meets international standards.
YSU SSS is in active relations with representatives of 50 universities from 20 countries around the world. The number of representatives cooperating with YSU SSS reaches around five thousand, and it is important that partner universities are not limited to specific countries. They include both European and Eastern countries. It is noteworthy that during YSU SSS international conferences, there were cases when we sent individual invitations to participate.
We are optimistic about establishing working relations with Prague State University.
Prague State University has a great interest in YSU because many students can study there with free scholarship funds, and each of the students with their professional knowledge and innovative and creative thoughts immediately attracts attention, keeping YSU's name high. I hope that it will be possible to form close cooperation.
My hopes for YSU are high, and my desire to use my knowledge for the benefit of the university is boundless.
I hope that by becoming a candidate in political sciences, I will give lectures at YSU, which has become my family, and will contribute to the development of the university and the formation of new and strong international ties.
