NUMBER OF APPLICANTS DECREASED THIS YEAR, THE MOST REQUIRED PROFESSION IS PROGRAMMING
“At present, about 280 applicants have been registered at YSU. This year we expect to have about 1500 applicants. As a rule, after the first ten days the entrants become more active,” - said Vachagan Galstyan, Executive Secretary of YSU Admission Commission.
V. Galstyan mentioned that according to the applications of applicants, at present the most demanded profession is informatics and applied mathematics.
It should be noted that the first stage of admission of bachelors for 2017-2018 academic year began on May 5, which will last till June 1. At this stage, the graduates of school of this year and previous years apply.
The second stage of the submission of applications will be on June 25 - July 2, including graduates of vocational colleges, those who have dual and foreign citizenship, those who have been discharged from the spring-summer call to army, Armenian citizens studying in foreign educational institutions.
V. Galstyan said that as in previous year, this year the applicant will be able to announce two free and eight paid professions. According to him, the admission will be held in the direction of 52 educational programs.
Responsible secretary of YSU Admission Commission Vachagan Galstyan informed that this year 2870 paid and 339 free of charge places have been allocated, of which 38 are intended for those who have been demobilized from the army.
The responsible secretary of YSU Admission Commission said that about 80 public and private universities are taking part in the entrance exams, with free and paid places reaching around 20,000.
He also pointed out that there were no free places for the RA Ministry of Defense since the Ministry of Defense is implementing the “Honor” program.
Speaking about YSU tuition fees, Galstyan noted that the tuition fees did not rise.
The speaker underlined that the admission area is, however, united in the republic.
“The Moscow State Lomonosov State University, Armenian American and Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University are organizing separate preparatory courses throughout the year. The admission field is not equally competitive, which affects the state HEIs. We hope that the newly formed government of the Republic of Armenia will create equal conditions for all HEIs in Armenia, and the exams of all existing HEIs will be held in unified format,” - he said.
