YSU LECTURERS PARTICIPATED IN GERMANY IN THE "ERASMUS +" TRAINING WEEK
On May 6-12, Armen Trchunyan, Head of the Chair of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology, YSU Faculty of Biology, and Associate Professor at the Chair of Diplomatic Service and Communication at YSU Faculty of International Relations, Deputy Dean Arthur Israelyan visited Germany.
University lecturers visited the University of Saarland within the framework of the Erasmus + program where they participated in the weekly training program for the partner universities.
"Saarland University is an active participant of the Erasmus + project. Our cooperation with the German University has a history of years and is still actively pursued. The program initially envisaged exchange of lecturers, students and postgraduates in the field of two specializations - "chemistry" and "plant biotechnology", - says Armen Trchunyan and adds that the goal is to expand the scope of cooperation.
It should be noted that last year a group of YSU faculties of Biology and Chemistry students and associate professors conducted practical trainings at the University of Saarland, and this year four students and two PhD students moved to the partner university. Presently, mutual visits of partner universities’ professors to universities are ongoing.
"Naturally, exchange programs are not formal. Cooperation with a number of leading universities at the level of professors is organized; visits are organized, which is very important for the development and planning of future projects. The best demonstration of mutual cooperation may be the implementation of double-diploma educational programs, which are currently being implemented,” - Professor Trchunyan says.
Within the framework of the visit YSU representatives took part in the discussions on "Erasmus +" educational programs, participation, improvement and other strategic issues. The purpose of the meetings was to provide dynamic development for cooperation within the framework of each project.
Arthur Israelyan, who is mainly engaged at the YSU Faculty of International Relations, is for effective participation in the "Erasmus +" programs, and is sure that the new experience will help to work more confidently within the framework of the international programs.
"It’s been a few months since I have been involved in organizing the" Erasmus + "program. Together with students, we select a
list of subjects to be studied within the framework of the international curriculum to ensure high efficiency,” - says A. Israyelyan adds that the cooperation with the Chair of German Philology at YSU Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology is also envisaged.
They also met with the Armenian students of Saarland, got acquainted with their work, their daily life and impressions. YSU lecturers emphasize that German professors are impressed with their behavior, their level of educational readiness and interest in scientific research.
