ARMENIAN AND GEORGIAN CULTURES AT YSU STAGE

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia Giorgi Saganelidze, YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, Vice-Rectors, Deans, Heads of chairs, Professors and students attended the festive concert.

In an interview with us YSU Cultural Center Director Karine Davtyan emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation between the two countries.

"YSU Cultural Center has launched a very active cooperation with the Georgian Embassy in Armenia," - said Karine Davtyan, adding that since last year these relations have entered in a qualitatively new stage.

"Last year marked the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Armenian-Georgian diplomatic relations, and we and Tbilisi State University organized a joint concert. This concert became a stimulus for further cooperation in the same format," - she said.

Referring to the organization and the main purpose of the event, K. Davtyan mentioned that cooperation in the cultural field is already a bilateral tradition.

"It is not a secret that this year is a special year for both Armenia and Georgia," - said Karine Davtyan and added that both countries celebrate the 100th anniversary of the independence. With the support of the Embassy of Georgia and personally Ambassador, as well as YSU Rector Aram Simonyan this year the 100th anniversary of independence of the two republics will be celebrated in the same cultural format.

During the concert, YSU Cultural Center members performed dances, songs to inspire the guests.

And the main event was the national and folk performances of the Georgian Folklore Quartet, which gave the participants a unique Georgian mood.

The close ties between the Armenian and Georgian peoples in literature, culture, and historiography have deep roots and are as old as the history of the two countries.

Famous jazzman, pianist Gary Keosayan also performed during the event.
