REPRESENTATIVES OF “FREE PRESS 2018” AWARDS ARE AT YSU
Today the meeting of representatives of “Free Press 2018” awards with students was held at YSU Hall after Charents.
The meeting was organized by the Student Council of the Faculty of Journalism.
The Dean of the Faculty of Journalism Naghash Martirosyan said that October 1 is a special day as the Faculty of Journalism of YSU was founded on October 1, 1999.
The Executive Director of OSLO “Fritt Ord” foundation, Professor Knaut Amas attached importance to the work of journalists in the modern world. “Particularly now, when both fake news and hatred propaganda spread so rapidly, the role of journalists becomes more essential”, said Knaut Olav Amas.
The role of journalists is also big in information challenges as well as while overcoming the negative attitude towards national minorities, people with development peculiarities.
The expert for Eastern Europe issues Martin Paulsen added that they are going to be present at “Free Media 2018” Awards in Yerevan. Martin Paulsen who is in the commission said that the selection was made following the two main principles-solidarity and inspiration.
