CENTRE OF ARABIC CULTURE OPENS AT YSU
The opening event of the Centre of Arabic Culture after Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain has been held at the Faculty of Arabic Studies of YSU.
The administration of YSU, the ambassadors of the Arabic countries accredited in the RA, as well as the ambassadors of the RA to Arabic countries were present at the opening ceremony.
The head of the Chair of Arabic Studies Hayk Kocharyan made an opening speech. He stressed that appreciates the scientific and cultural relationship with Arabic countries.
“Opening of this centre proves that we do our best to implement new cooperation programs with Arabic countries. One of the main missions of the centre is to carry out scientific and research activity which will give our students the possibility to get higher quality education in the field of Arabic Studies”, mentioned Hayk Kocharyan.
The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Alexander Grigoryan noted that opening of the Center of Arabic Studies after Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtian is the best present for the 50-th anniversary of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arabic Studies Ruben Melkonyan expressed hope that the centre is a new step towards cooperation with Arabic countries in scientific and research field, “Actually, we are going to have a The Centre of Arabic Studies is sponsored by “Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain cultural fund” which was founded by Kuwait poet Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain in 1989 in Egypt.
Owing to the efforts of the fund centres of Arabic culture are created in different universities worldwide and their aim is to present Arabic culture in various corners of the world and make it more recognizable.
Last year YSU and “Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain cultural fund” signed a memorandum according which various scientific and research programs related to Arabic culture are to be fulfilled.
This year YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies expands its scientific and research programs including creation of new study bools and subtitle translation of Arabic films.
