MEETING-DISCUSSION WITH JUDGES OF STATE COUNCIL OF FRANCE
Today the students of YSU Faculty of Law met with the judges of the State Council of France Yves Doutriaux and Yves Gounin.
The event was organized by the International Foundation of Electoral Systems (IFES) and the French Embassy in Armenia.
The goal of “Enhancing Electoral Processes and Political Accountability” program financed by USA International Development Agency (USAID) is to support political changes in Armenia strengthening the facilities of electoral bureaucracy, improving electoral legislation, enhancing transparency of political financing, developing electoral justice and to boost youth civil activity.
This program is implemented by the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening and will last four years (2018-2022).
The Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law Karen Gevorgyan greeted those present and expressed hope that interesting discussion was ahead.
Presenting the nature of their activity the judges noted that it’s not easy to be both a judge and a member of the state council of a country however these positions are mutually useful.
They noted that the project helps enhance electoral bureaucracy by professional development promoting citizens’ wider involvement in holding elections and in political processes.
