THE POSTAGE STAMP DEDICATED 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF YSU FOUNDATION IS PUT INTO OPERATION
The ceremony of cancellation of the postage stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of foundation of YSU has been held today in Sargis and Marie Izmirlyan library of YSU.
The RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan, the RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan, the CEO of “HayPost” CJSC Hayk Avagyan, the president of the Union of Philatelists of Armenia Hovik Musaelyan, the acting Rector of YSU Gegham Gevorgyan, vice-rectors of YSU, representatives of the teaching staff and administration, other officials and students were present at the event.
At the beginning of the ceremony the choir of YSU Cultural Centre performed the national anthem of Armenia and the hymn of YSU.
The first issue of the agenda of the meeting of YSU Academic Council related to the ceremony of cancellation of the postage stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of YSU foundation. It was performed by the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan, the RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan, YSU acting Rector gegham Gevorgyan, the CEO of “HayPost” Hayk Avagyan and the president of the Union of Philatelists of Armenia Hovik Musaelyan.
The graphic picture of the central building of YSU and the emblem of the university in the down left corner are depicted on the stamp. The author of the graphic picture of YSU is the lecturer at Ijevan branch of YSU, artist Levon Lachikyan. The stamp has a nominal price of 220 AMD. It was issued at “Cartor” printing house in 30 thousand copies.
The graphic picture authored by Levon Lachikyan was chosen as a design of the postage stamp dedicated to YSU 100th anniversary as a result of a competition announced in advance.
Congratulating those present Gegham Gevorgyan emphasized that the event is one of the series of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of YSU. He stressed the role and significance of the university and expressed hope that within its next 100 years the university will get more achievements.
The acting Rector of YSU thanked the author of the design of the stamp Levon Lachikyan on behalf of YSU and awarded him with YSU Gold Medal for the achievemtns in culture and art, for creating the design of the stamp dedicated to YSU Centennial and on the event of the Centennial.
Levon Lachikyan expressed gratitude for the reward and for the appreciation. He said that the idea appeared years ago when he was talking with one of his best students, now the Vice-Rector of YSU Ruben Markosyan who gave him the idea of participating in the competition.
