ACTIVITIES RELATED TO ORGANIZATION OF 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF YSU ARE GOING ON
The meeting of the jubilee commission coordinating the events dedicated to the Centennial of YSU foundation was held in the session hall of the Academic Council today.
Acting Rector of YSU Gegham Gevorgyan presented the members of the commission the schedule of the jubilee events and the activities related to its organization.
In particular, he mentioned the publishing activities and stated that all the books that have been provided will be issued. The book-album entitled “From the history of Yerevan State University” has already been issued. A smaller and more illustrated variant of this book in English will be published soon.
Mr. Gevorgyan informed that the Cultural Centre staged the operetta “Karine” by T. Chukhajyan which will be shown at the Academic Theatre after G. Sundukyan. Besides, the concert program dedicated to YSU Centennial is ready. It is to be held at the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after A. Spendiaryan.
The acting Rector also assured that the sketches of the posters entitled “I am Universitarian” are ready as well. “These posters will have the photos of eminent representatives of the university and will be stuck along the road leading from the university to Azaturyan square.
Among the provided events are two exhibitions organized by YSU Professor Grigor Gharibyan. The paintings created by the Professor will be displayed at one of them, the other will present the pictures from his collection.
Gegham Gevorgyan also presented the schedule of the official events to be held on September 26-28. The official events start on September 26. On this day the solemn meeting of YSU Academic Council is to be held and the Declaration of Academic Freedom will be adopted and the ceremony of awards will come afterwards.
Besides, the guests will visit the Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts after M. Mashtots and the Museum-Institute of the Armenian Genocide. The guests will plant fir-trees in the Memory Alley of Tsitsernakaberd. They will also be present at the performance of “Karine” operetta and in the evening will be hosted at 26 Baghramyan avenue.
The international conference entitled “Higher Education, Research and Innovation in the 21st Century” will be held on September 27. The solemn procession towards Opera and Ballet Theatre where the solemn official ceremony will be held will follow the conference.
Excursions to Garni pagan temple and Geghard monastery complex will be held on September 28. Students discotheque will be held in the evening in the courtyard of the Central building of YSU.
At the end of the meeting Gegham Gevorgyan informed that various events dedicated to YSU 100th anniversary will be organized at the faculties as well.
