DISCUSSION AND EXPLANATION OF CURRENT AND UPCOMING ISSUES: MEETING OF RECTORATE HAS BEEN HELD
The meeting of YSU Rectorate has been held in the session hall of the Academic Council. It had a number agenda and current issues.
Before starting the meeting, the members of the Rectorate kept a minute of silence in commemoration of YSU Professor, chief editor of “Banber of Yerevan University” journal Hrachik Mirzoyan.
Referring to the issues on the agenda the members of the Recorate discussed the problem of the workload of the chairs. The head of YSU Educational and Methodilogical Department Hrant Zhamharyan informed that the expectations for Bachelor program admission were justified: this year YSU has 2899 entrants.
Gegham Gevorgyan informed that the library cards of all freshmen are ready. The director of YSU library Yeznik Mirzoyan informed that within this week all faculties will get the cards and will be able to hand them out to students on September 2.
YSU Acting Rector informed tat on February 7, 2021 the time of institutional accreditation of YSU is getting expired, and as te preparations for a new accreditation take almost a year, the activities are to be stated.
Regarding the program related to accreditation research the Vice-Rector for Humanities and Social Sciences Elina Asriyan said that the strategic program for YSU development includes up-to-date and innovative research, and this program will be installed in the faculties of Philosophy and Psychology, and Mathematics and Mechanics.
Installation of the research component means some research into relevant field by students to be carried out under tutors’ supervision and will be assessed instead of the first or second term examinations maximally in 5 scores. Gegham Gevorgyan said that the program can be installed in all faculties.
The acting Rector also informed that the new system of document circulation called “Mulberry” was installed.
Regarding other issues on the agenda Gegham Gevorgyan a new strategy program to be coordinated by a new commission must be adopted in approximately a year. He also added that the process of furnishing YSU dormitory is actively going on.
The issue of deadlines for intranet system was discussed as well.
The acting Rector informed the members of the Rectorate that the arrangements related to the 100th anniversary of YSU foundation had been made and the official events will be held in accordance with the planned schedule.
G. Gevorgyan also informed that within the frames of the official events dedicated to YSU Centennial the declaration on academic freedoms must be adopted. The text of the declaration will be ready within 10 days. It will be published in Armenian and English and then offered for signing to partners in Armenia. Then, during the official events it will be offered for signing to foreign guests and read out during the solemn meeting of the Academic Council.
It was also informed that due to the efforts of Gurgen Melikyan and the students a square dedicated to YSU Centennial had been laid in Artsakh.
During the meeting the director of the Museum of YSU History Heghine Gasparan offered to name the museum after its founder-director Lyudvig Gharibjanyan.
At the end of the meeting the chairman of YSU SC David Apoyan presented the program of awareness of the first year students to be held on August 29-31.
