“BIODIVERSITY OF MICROORGANISMS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY”: YSU DELEGATION PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL
On June 30-July 7, the representatives of Master students and teaching staff of the chair of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology of the Faculty of Biology of YSU took part in the international school entitled “Biodiversity of Microorganisms and Biotechnology” organized in National University of Dushanbe.
The summer school was organized within the frames of the grant program entitled “Educational network of science-based higher education in the field of biotechnology of microorganisms” allotted by the Norwegian centre for the international cooperation in the field of higher education.
The goal of the summer school was to familiarize the students with the biology of extremophilic microbes and the problems of their use in biotechnology.
The Associate Professor of the chair of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology Hovik Panosyan, who was among the organizers of the summer school, informed that students and tutors from the universities of Norway, Bulgaria, Belarus, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia and Tajikistan took part in the summer school.
The participants visited Khoja Obi Garm hot mineral springs to take samples of the biodiversity of thermophilic bacteria and study them.
