Yerevan State University announces a competition for researchers of the YSU American Studies Center as part of the "American Studies" grant program funded by the U.S. Embassy in Armenia.
The competition aims at:
- bringing together the research capacity in American Studies or related fields,
- forming and developing an appropriate scientific environment and promoting the performance of scientific research works in the field of American studies.
Researchers with interests and experience in the field of American studies or related academic disciplines are allowed to participate in the competition.
Requirements for participants of the competition are:
1. At least five years of research experience in American studies or related fields,
2. Scientific degree,
3. International academic research experience will be an advantage.
To participate in the competition, it is necessary to submit:
1. CV, including scientific publications,
2. Statement of Interests, within a maximum of 1500 words,
3. An example of one scientific article (relevant text fragment) related to the field of American studies or related academic disciplines,
4. Research Proposal as part of one of the proposed topics within a maximum of 3-5 pages.
Contract will be signed with the winning applicants for a period of six months (with the possibility of extension).
The expected work result of the researchers selected as a result of the competition: publication of a scientific article in an international peer-reviewed periodical and in a scientific journal accepted by the RA Supreme Certifying Committee. In addition, during the term of their contracts, the researchers will hold a series of seminars at the Center for American Studies, presenting the results of their research work.
The main (thematic) research directions are:
- Lobbying and international business/economic interests of the U.S.: the role of Diaspora,
- The U.S. strategies in promoting and sustaining the regional stability: the case of the South Caucasus,
- Shifting power balance in the Post-Soviet space in the 2020’s and the role of the United States,
- Civic groups (NGOs, Diasporas) and their influence on the U.S. foreign policies: connection to the Eurasian (post-Soviet) region,
- Policy-making in the United States: contemporary transformations,
- The United States and Global Sustainability,
- American Innovations in Good Governance and Urban Development,
- Navigating the Artificial Intelligence Landscape: U.S. Polices, Challenges & Emerging Trends,
- Media and strategic communication: influence of mass communication and media on the U.S. foreign and domestic policies,
- The Arts, Freedom of Expression, and the First Amendment.
