Series of courses entitled "Geovisualization and Geocommunication"
If you are interested in spatial data visualization and visual communication, like to create visual stories using geospatial data in art and science, this module will give you the opportunity to broaden your knowledge.
As part of the cooperation between YSU Continuing Education Center and YSU Faculty of Geography and Geology, a series of courses entitled "Geovisualization and Geocommunication" is starting on March 25 this year.
The course aims to enhance the skills of designers, content creators, journalists and tourism professionals.
Who this course is designed for?
The course is designed for UI/UX designers, content creators, investigative journalists, as well as specialists in the fields of spatial analysis and management.
What will you study during the course?
The course includes the following topics:
- Creating and sharing web maps,
- Classification, symbolization and visual combination,
- Design for interaction,
- Perspective viewing, 3D,
- Storymapping and dashboarding,
- Creating app experiences,
What will we learn from the course?
- Explain and describe different types of maps based on their purpose (static maps and interactive web maps)
- Create, publish and manage web maps
- Design maps based on the principles of classification, symbolization and visual combination
- Design maps as reference frames based on ux concepts
- Design and practice story maps with interactive features
- Develop, publish and distribute simple web applications based on ux design principles

The course will be conducted by Vahan Manukyan, Associate Professor at the Chair of Regional Geology and Mineral Exploration, Esther Manukyan, Associate Professor at the Chair of Cartography and Geomorphology.
