On December 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., in auditorium 314 at the Faculty of Biology, Nicholas Paduch, a researcher from the Institute of Human Genetics, Jena (Germany), will deliver a scientific lecture.
In the first part of the lecture, the scientist will discuss the collaborative areas of the Molecular Cytogenetics Laboratory of the Institute of Human Genetics in Jena, and over ten other laboratories worldwide. He will also focus on the prospects of molecular cytogenetics.
In the second part, Nicholas Paduch will address the various methods of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), contemporary approaches in medical-genetic counseling, and the study of chromosomal mutations for diagnostic and research purposes.
The speaker will also present methods for the automated analysis of chromosomes and chromosomal mutations, utilizing fluorescence microscopy and genomic optical mapping.
This lecture is organized within the framework of the joint Armenian-German laboratory at the Chair of Genetics and Cytology (YSU Faculty of Biology), as well as the Armenian-German joint program (22SC-BMBF-1C001), with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany.
