Initiated by the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia and in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund, a research paper competition is announced under the theme "Gender-Based Violence Issues in Armenia".
Who can apply?
This competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students of the faculties of Law, Philosophy and Psychology, Sociology, and Journalism at Yerevan State University (YSU), or student teams formed with participants from these faculties.
Each student team may consist of a maximum of 4 members (students from the same faculty or the above-mentioned faculties).
How to participate in the competition?
To participate, applicants must submit an application along with other required documents. The application should include the following information:
Information about the individual or team applying for the competition.
Key details about the research, including:
The topic of the research,
The relevance of the topic,
A description of the objectives and tasks,
The methodological framework,
The significance and expected outcomes of the research,
A brief description.
If available, information on other conducted research (e.g., links, brief descriptions, etc.).
The application must be accompanied by a document verifying student status (student card, etc.) and, if applicable, copies of any other research papers.
Based on the evaluation of the submitted applications, individuals whose applications meet the established criteria will be selected to participate in the competition.
How many prize places are planned?
Among those selected to participate, 4 authors of the best research papers will be recognized as winners.
In the evaluation of the research papers, the following factors will be prioritized:
Innovation,
Evidence-based results,
"Problem to solution" approaches.
Evaluation Committee Members
The selection of the competition winner(s) will involve representatives of the Office of the Human Rights Defender, members of the Public Council on Women's Rights adjunct to the Human Rights Defender, coordinators of the relevant faculties at YSU (Law, Philosophy and Psychology, Sociology, and Journalism), representatives of the UN Population Fund, and experts in the field.
Research Topic Selection
The research may cover a wide range of topics, depending on the professional interests of the participating students, such as:
Gaps in the legal system and obstacles to access to justice for victims of violence,
Vulnerable groups and gender-based violence, socio-cultural factors and gender-based violence,
The psychological aspects of domestic violence,
Domestic violence through the lens of journalism.
