Meeting on "Textbook Creation: New Opportunities and Challenges" with Authors of Mother Tongue and Literature Textbooks
On April 15, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., YSU Library named after Sarkis and Marie Izmirlian will host a meeting titled "Textbook Creation: New Opportunities and Challenges" will be held with the authors of Mother Tongue and Literature textbooks.
During the meeting, the following speakers will deliver speeches: Tamar Aleksanyan, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, co-author of the "Mother Tongue 5,6" and "Literature 8" textbooks, Head of the Expert Group for the Review of the Armenian Language and Literature Curriculum and Standards for General Education, and Head of the Scientific and Methodological Center at Shirakatsy Lyceum, and Albert Makaryan, literary scholar, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, co-author of the "Armenian Literature" textbooks for the 8th and 10th grades, and Head of the Chair of History of Armenian Literature and Literary Theory at Yerevan State University.
The discussion will focus on the following topics:
What new methodological approaches and principles have been applied in the textbooks for the development and improvement of students' oral and written speech?
What are the content innovations of the new textbooks in terms of developing critical, thoughtful, creative, and motivated students?
The transition from two-dimensional education to three-dimensional education has been made, and the core concepts of reading, creativity, and identity have been defined. What impact has this change had on the content of the textbooks?
How do students' preferences, social media, and new technologies influence the teaching of the mother tongue and literature, particularly the content of textbooks?
New formats of textbooks, color schemes, and other solutions (with the example of the 8th-grade textbook).
What is the main priority in teaching literature in schools (aesthetic, educational, social, or other)?
