Chair of Actuarial and Financial Mathematics

In 2001, a Master's program in actuarial mathematics was established at YSU, which was succeeded by a bachelor's program launch in 2003. The goal was to provide students with the knowledge and skills in areas related to mathematics and actuarial science, which are necessary for mastering the actuarial profession and meeting requirements. In 2007, the Chair of Actuarial Mathematics was established at YSU. Since 2009, it has been implementing three master's programs: "Actuarial Mathematics", "Risk Management", and "Financial Mathematics", and one bachelor's program: "Financial Mathematics". Later, the unit was renamed the Chair of Actuarial and Financial Mathematics.

Emphasizing the importance of creating job opportunities for graduates of educational programs (financial mathematicians, actuaries, risk managers), the Chair has established cooperative relations with potential employers: the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia, commercial banks of the republic, insurance companies, investment funds, pension funds, credit and other types of financial organizations, "Nork" Information and Analytical Center and other organizations. Moreover, graduates of the "Actuarial and Financial Mathematics" are in demand not only in Armenia, but also abroad.
