From July 8 to 9, 2nd-year students from the "Geology" educational program at the YSU Faculty of Geography and Geology undertook an internship at the Amulsar mine.
Students visited the mine under supervision of Associate Professor Sargis Kelyan, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geology, and faculty members. Executive Director of Lydian Armenia Company Hayk Aloyan, Candidate of Geological Sciences, welcomed the students at the mine. During the 2-day internship, he presented the geological features of the mine.
On the first day of the internship, following a health and safety briefing, the students received an introduction to the history of the Amulsar project, covering its geological, technological, environmental, and economic components. Subsequently, they were given a tour of Amulsar's future open-pit mines and infrastructures.
On the second day of the internship, the students visited Gorayk to see the geological laboratory of Lydian Armenia and the available equipment.
The educational internship was comprehensive and effective. The students received both new theoretical knowledge and got acquainted with the opportunities of applying their knowledge in practice.
