A two-day international conference entitled "Civilizations and Wars" was launched at the Faculty of History of YSU. Before the launch, the opening ceremony of three lecture halls of the faculty took place.
Guests from Uruguay, Germany, India, and other countries arrived at Yerevan State University to participate in the two-day international conference. Fifty researchers presented reports on various topics, ten of them from foreign educational institutions.
Before the start of the conference Dean of the YSU History Faculty, Ph.D. Edik Minasyan mentioned to us that three auditoriums of the faculty were named after academicians H. Manandyan, L. Khurshudyan and H. Simonyan because they left a big mark in the history of Yerevan State University.
Referring to the organization of the two-day conference entitled "Civilizations and Wars" and its importance, E. Minasyan said that the organization of an international conference dedicated to Historian's day was planned a year ago. The dean of the faculty assured that the discussions will be of great scientific efficiency and will be continuous.
Professor Anna Frega, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Montevideo, presented the "War and revolution in the process of establishing the Uruguayan state, 1810-1830." report at the conference. In his conversation with us, she emphasized that participating in the conference was a wonderful opportunity to visit Armenia and strengthen the cooperative relationship between universities.
"By participating in the conference, I aim to present to my Armenian colleagues the interesting episodes of the history of Uruguay in the 19th century, to learn more deeply about the history of Armenia and its past path, which will give an opportunity to find points of intersection between the histories of Uruguay and Armenia," said A. Fregan.
Young researchers also participated in the conference. Armine Tigranyan, a post-graduate student of the YSU Cultural Studies Department, presented her scientific experience, which she gained during almost two years. According to Armine, international conferences provide an opportunity not only to present one's research, but also to create strong cooperative ties with international partners.
