A memorial event dedicated to Vahagn Tumasyan, the hero of the 44-day Artsakh War and knight of the "Combat Cross" first degree, was held at the Vahagn Tumasyan Auditorium in YSU Faculty of History.
In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty of History, Mkhitar Gabrielian, stated, "To understand who we are talking about, it is enough to be in the Vahagn Tumasyan Auditorium. Our deep respect goes to Vahagn Tumasyan and his family. By witnessing Vahagn’s journey, our students and young people should realize that homeland, the state, and family require daily work and devotion."
The event was attended by Vahagn Tumasyan's professors and classmates, who shared memories from the scout’s student years and spoke of his profound patriotism and exceptional human qualities.
Since 2021, a joint initiative between YSU Faculty of History and the "Armenian Santa Claus" Foundation has established an educational award in memory of Vahagn Tumasyan. After receiving the award, YSU History Faculty graduate Tatev Nurijanyan shared that she had decided to make patriotic work her way of life.
Among the attendees at the memorial event were teaching staff and students from YSU Faculty of History, as well as employees of the Abovyan Municipality.
The Vahagn Tumasyan Auditorium has been equipped with computer technology, donated by Eduard Babayan, the Mayor of Abovyan.
