Chair of Print and Broadcast Media
The Chair of Journalism at Yerevan State University was founded by writer, publicist, and Ph.D., Professor Gevorg Hayryan in the early 1960s. In different years, the Chair was also headed by H. Felekyan and G. Ananyan.
In May 1999, three and a half decades after its foundation, the Chairs of Radio and Television Journalism and Press History and Theory were formed based on the Chair. In 2017, the Chair of Radio and Television Journalism was renamed the Chair of Print and Broadcast Media.
The first head of the Chair of Radio and Television Journalism (later: Print and Broadcast Media) was Ph.D., Professor M. Hovsepyan. During its 25-year activity, the Chair of Print and Broadcast Media has developed and implemented many modern module courses, initiated conferences and training courses, and formed partnerships with leading mass media representatives and international organizations.
Ph.D., Associate Professor Naghash Martirosyan is the acting head of the Chair.
Recognized and leading specialists of the republic work in the Chair, who undergo regular training, and are involved in international and local grant programs. The scientists of the Chair are the authors of educational manuals, monographs, and scientific articles, which are published in prestigious scientific periodicals.
Adjacent to the Chair there are radio and TV studios and a computer hall equipped according to modern requirements.
The Chair implements the "Journalism" (full-time and part-time) Undergraduate educational program.
