Chair of New Media and Communication
The Chair of New Media and Communication (until 2017 was called the Chair of Press History and Theory) was founded in 1999. The first head of the Chair was Ph.D., Professor G. Ananyan. In the beginning, the range of interests of the professors of the Chair included the problems of history and theory of journalism.
Over time, the possibilities of the Internet, information, and communication technologies contributed to the formation and development of new media and its various directions. Due to this, new courses were introduced into the educational programs of the Chair, which are conducted by the leading experts in the field of new media and communication in the republic.
Since 2017, the head of the Chair of New Media and Communication is Dr., Professor Davit Petrosyan.
Young professors with rich scientific and pedagogical experience teach at the Chair, some of whom are involved in international and local grant programs. The faculty-scientists of the Chair are the authors of educational manuals, monographs, and scientific articles, which are published in national and foreign professional periodicals.
The Chair cooperates in different formats with the same-named chairs and centers of many leading universities abroad.
The Chair implements the "Journalism" (full-time and part-time) Undergraduate educational program and the "Public Relations and Communication Technologies" (full-time and part-time) Master's degree educational program.
