On August 22 and 23, the Faculty of Journalism hosted BBC journalist and trainer Kate Hoyland for a course titled "Podcasting Basics for Lecturers." This event was part of the ongoing collaboration between Yerevan State University (YSU) and BBC Media Action.
As part of the training course designed for lecturers at the YSU Faculty of Journalism, participants explored leading industry practices and the production stages involved in creating a podcast. Over the two-day course, key topics included idea development, format selection, crafting clear and engaging introductions, techniques for building intimate relations with the audience, innovative conversation styles, and editing techniques.
Trainer Kate Hoyland noted: "I hope that what I presented over the two days will assist the faculty in developing their educational programs, especially those related to podcasting."
Notably, Kate Hoyland has nearly 20 years of experience at the BBC, where she has worked in creating radio, digital, television, and podcast products. She has led journalism and production courses for the BBC World Service and has designed and developed podcast creation courses for the BBC, collaborating closely with podcast producers and publishers.
The collaboration between the YSU Faculty of Journalism and BBC Media Action continues with the goal of enhancing the educational process and updating course content.
