As part of the "Establishing Remote Laboratories-2023" project, funded by the Higher Education and Science Committee of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, a research group from the Chair of Personality Psychology left for Germany to work with international partners and expand collaborative ties.
The research group is working on a scientific project titled "Belonging, the Power to Influence, and Civic Action: Understanding Citizenship from Socio-Psychological Perspective in Post-Revolutionary and (Post)War Armenia". The team includes Sona Manusyan, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, a researcher at the Laboratory of Personality and Social Environment, and co-leader of the project; Narine Khachatryan, Head of the Chair of Personality Psychology; and Ani Poghosyan, a lecturer at the same chair.
The main objectives of the working visit were to collaborate directly with Dr. Arin Ayanian, the International Head of the Remote Laboratory, and to establish more concrete and long-term collaboration with the inviting institution, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence at Bielefeld University.
During meetings and discussions with foreign partners, the research group presented the project's goals, its methodological framework, key findings from the current phase of work, and the planned next steps. These were accompanied by an analysis of the Armenian context to highlight the importance of the studied phenomena. The importance of psychological studies in understanding public, complex processes was emphasized.
The group also met with Dr. Olia Hakobyan, a postdoctoral researcher in the Center for Cognitive Interaction Technology at Bielefeld University, who studies the peculiarities of human interactions on social media using anonymized data and leads multiple research projects. During the meeting, professional collaboration opportunities and other related topics were discussed.
This working visit was crucial for introducing the group to the tools that complement the research methodology and for exploring opportunities to expand collaborative ties.
