1. Admission criteria/requirements
ADMISSION CRITERIA/REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the Master's degree program is carried out according to the relevant regulations of YSU.
Admission is held without exams for the ones with a Bachelor’s degree in the same specialty, and applicants with related specialties pass the final exam of the Bachelor’s degree.

2. Programme Objectives
AIM OF PROGRAM
The program aims to train Philosophy and Ethics specialists for education, science, and civil society sectors, who will analyze and coordinate the worldview, socio-philosophical, and ethical issues of modern civilizational challenges, predict crisis phenomena with philosophical and ethical motives, and develop concepts for overcoming them. The trained specialists can work in educational systems, think tanks, and public organizations.
The program aims to train Philosophy and Ethics specialists for education, science, and civil society sectors, who will analyze and coordinate the worldview, socio-philosophical, and ethical issues of modern civilizational challenges, predict crisis phenomena with philosophical and ethical motives, and develop concepts for overcoming them. The trained specialists can work in educational systems, think tanks, and public organizations.
3. Educational outcomes of the programme
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- To present the typology of ethical relations and the theoretical and applied foundations of ethics,
- To describe the foundations of ethics, virtual communication, and virtual identity in the modern networked society
- to point out the trends of ethical and socio-cultural transformations of national identity
- to point out the rules of the game of business and political ethics and models of political manipulation
- to introduce technologies of crowd behavior, ostentatious consumption, and entertainment
- to point to the methods and problems of the metaphysics of love, family planning, and the psychoanalysis of love
- to consider the ethical profile of the Armenian identity in the context of the identities of other, especially ethnic, nations
- to participate in the development and modernization of socio-cultural and ethical concepts of national security
- to apply various sociocultural methods and develop factual models for overcoming ethical conflicts
- to pose ethical problems, develop research programs and methods of their implementation
- to interpret the characteristics of Armenian ethical thought and its relations with Eastern and Western ones
- to reveal the patterns of mutual conditioning of natural science and humanities cultures and the ethical consequences of the development of science
- to separate the essential from the inessential and to identify the fundamental trends of ethical transformations in the modern world
- to organize public discussions and debates on ethical problems and contribute to the formation of public opinion
- to support the work of non-governmental organizations dealing with issues of ethical education of youth
- to apply technologies for solving and overcoming ethical conflicts
- to use various sources of information (Internet resources, electronic libraries, scientific articles, and reports)
- to analyze existing problems and estimate the resources needed to solve them
- to engage in pedagogical and scientific research activities
- to prepare reports, present research results, conduct scientific debates
- to observe the norms of professional ethics
4. Assessment methods
ASSESSMENT
Based on the workload of the courses (academic modules) provided by the curriculum of the educational program, the mode of study, teaching methods, and taking into account the importance of the course in the formation of professional knowledge and abilities of the student, the courses are divided into 4 groups according to the form of assessment: with final assessment, without final assessment, without evaluation of current exams, and check-up.
Course evaluation components are:
• mid-term written exams (implying summary analytical answers according to the questionnaire, or writing tasks (research, application of the psychodiagnostic methodology, etc.), and/or mid-term oral exams (implying extensive analytical answers according to the questionnaire, or preparation of essays, independently and in groups) performance of works and oral presentation), which can be considered the "Research Component".
• mid-term check-ups (implies completion of assignments and presentation of material by the student during seminars),
• independent work (implies implementation of written or oral analytical work on the assigned topic and public presentation)
• participation (implies physical presence, active participation in question-and-answer sessions and discussions at lectures and seminars),
• the final oral exams (implies clear, logical, justified, and complete answers to the questions on the exam ticket).
