As part of the "History of Foreign Literature" course, Professor Raoul Eshelman from Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich delivered a lecture at Yerevan State University's Faculty of Russian Philology.
Invited by N.K. Gonchar-Khanjyan, a lecturer in the course and Ph.D., Associate Professor at YSU Foreign Literature Chair, Professor Eshelman presented a lecture in Russian on postmodernism and post-postmodernism.
He discussed modernism, postmodernism, and post-postmodernism—pivotal movements in 20th and 21st-century art and culture. The professor highlighted that a key feature of modernism is its aim to shock the audience, referencing Malevich's paintings and Marcel Duchamp's famous work "Fountain."
Throughout the lecture, Professor Eshelman provided various examples of postmodernism in art, noting its distinctive characteristics and how artistic approaches have evolved across art, literature, and cinema.
Diana Gazarova, Dean of the Faculty of Russian Philology, emphasized the significance of such lectures, stating that they enrich students’ knowledge and broaden their worldview.
