On July 9-11, this year, the summer school organized by the Faculty of International Relations of YSU under the title "Transformation of Conflicts" was held.
Within the school curriculum, students delved into the fundamentals of conflict theory, the origins and evolution of ethno-political conflicts, contemporary conflicts, and theoretical models for their analysis. The program also covered the establishment of the global legal framework, the impact of media and civil society on modern conflicts, and interstate disputes adjudicated in international courts. Faculty members from YSU, alongside invited experts and officials, delivered lectures during the summer school sessions.
Ani Arsenyan, a third-year student in the "International Relations" educational program, shared her experience: "The course provided me with the opportunity to meet new like-minded people. Over those three full days, I gained valuable new knowledge and experience. The speakers were highly professional, each offering insights that addressed all our questions. This learning will undoubtedly be useful in my profession in the future."
Karlen Vardanyan, a participant in the course, highlighted: "The summer school stood out with its unique approach and delivery. It provided a platform for developing knowledge-based critical thinking and perception of the world. The teaching staff and instructional model were exceptionally effective, and the knowledge we gained and assimilated will undoubtedly be invaluable. After all, our profession holds significant importance now and in the future."
Syuzi Noroyan, a participant in the course, emphasized that her experience at the summer school significantly broadened her understanding and approach to modern international relations. She highlighted the program's effective integration of theoretical knowledge with lively discussions, which made each day interesting and meaningful. Furthermore, the curriculum covered a wide range of topics, from the root causes of conflicts to the analysis of contemporary challenges.
"I found the interactive discussions particularly impressive, where we shared our perspectives on key approaches to international relations. The speakers, hailing from diverse professional and academic backgrounds, provided valuable insights into the significance of taking a comprehensive approach to international conflicts, sharing their own experiences. This experience this gave me the opportunity to acquire new knowledge about diplomacy and the crucial role of peacebuilding," Syuzi emphasized.
