The conference titled "Geopolitics of the Eurasian Crossroads: Transformations, Challenges, and Development Paths", organized by the YSU Faculty of International Relations, was summarized after bringing together around 40 scholars from more than 10 countries.
During the two-day conference, representatives from leading research institutions and universities in Armenia, the USA, Russia, Ukraine, Belgium, Estonia, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and the United Arab Emirates presented reports.
The multi-panel format facilitated separate discussions and dialogues on a range of topics, including current geopolitical developments, international integration processes, conflicts, disunification and reverse processes, as well as economic changes related to geopolitics. Following the conference, the "Journal of Political Science: Bulletin of Yerevan University" will publish articles authored by the participants.
The international conference also offered new perspectives for cooperation with partner universities.
As part of the event, separate meetings were held at the initiative of participating foreign partners with the dean of the YSU Faculty of International Relations, where they discussed potential areas and methods of cooperation.
During the meeting with delegations from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Institute of History and International Relations at Southern Federal University (Russia), specific avenues for cooperation were discussed. It was agreed to continue publishing co-authored articles and monographs, and the possibility of organizing a summer school involving the faculties of International Relations at YSU and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was also discussed.
Cooperation between the two faculties entered an active phase in April 2024, marked by mutual visits, participation in roundtable discussions, and international conferences.
The conference "Geopolitics of the Eurasian Crossroads: Transformations, Challenges, and Development Paths" provided the Kazakh delegation with the opportunity to visit YSU for the second time.
During the conference, discussions were held regarding the strengthening of cooperation with partners from the Institute of History and International Relations at Southern Federal University (Russia). The parties agreed to continue the online exchange program for professors in the fall semester, which was initiated in the spring semester of 2024. 10 professors from both institutions are participating in this program. Arrangements for hosting lectures were established through the Chair of International Relations and Diplomacy. Additionally, the parties agreed to continue their participation in the annual spring school, held in a hybrid format, organized by the Institute of History at Southern Federal University.
