About the program
The "Public Policy and Management" educational program (granted qualification: Bachelor of Management) has been launched at YSU since the 2022/2023 academic year.
The Bachelor's degree program was developed in partnership with Arizona State University. One of the innovative aspects of the program is the predominance of courses with an economic component in the curriculum, which is of key importance for the preparation of future specialists in the field.
Admission requirements
Admission is conducted based on the results of entrance exams focused on the "Armenian Language and Literature" ("Foreign Language"), and "Armenian History". Applicants with secondary and secondary vocational education can take part in the entrance exams.
The aim of the program
The educational program aims to:
- Form among students the necessary combination of professional abilities, knowledge, and skills for the formulation, development, and implementation of public policy, and public management in state, and non-state bodies, including the regulation and management of the third sector, as well as management and planning of activity priorities and the implementation of functions in various administrative and political bodies,
- Contribute to the formation of critical thinking, theoretical, and empirical knowledge combining and evaluating abilities among students.
Within the framework of the program, students receive such knowledge and abilities that will enable them to work in the field of public policy implementation, in the processes of implementing projects and programs developed in the field of public policy. Along with theoretical knowledge, the strategic priority of the program is to form the necessary skills for analytical work among students, including the analytical frameworks and tools of various disciplines.
Advantages
When developing the educational program, the following educational standards and (or) program orientations were used:
- The presence of regulation and planning problems in various spheres of public life in the educational program,
- The analytical component in the curricula,
- The presence of interdisciplinary approaches by combining management economics, political science, public administration, law, and sociology, as well as information technology analytical tools and existing research models.
The NQF, as well as other YSU benchmarks, were adopted as the basis of the program standard.
Career opportunities
Upon receiving a Bachelor's degree in management, the graduates can work in the fields of public policy development, implementation, analysis, and evaluation, as well as at different levels of the public sector (including the format of public-private cooperation), in particular in the central apparatus of the government, in the state bodies performing interdepartmental coordination functions, (committees, agencies), structural units of the government, sectoral departments of ministries (policy or program preparation, monitoring, working with databases), non-state (public) sector regulation and management areas, large and medium state ( public) enterprises.
