To explore the latest trends in cybersecurity, address sectoral challenges, and identify potential solutions, representatives from YSU and several other Armenian universities participated in a working visit to the University of Piraeus in Greece in early December. The expertise gained during the visit holds significant value for advancing education and research in cybersecurity and for shaping the concept of a national cybersecurity center in Armenia.
The meeting was organized as part of the collaboration between universities in Armenia, Greece, France, Norway, Slovenia, and Italy. As a representative of YSU, Narine Martirosyan, a lecturer from the Chair of Programming and Information Technologies, participated in the working visit.
During the discussions, the role of cooperative ties between leading international universities on sector-specific issues, collaborative research, alignment with international standards, and strengthening the connection between industry and education were emphasized.
Representatives of Armenian universities also visited the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). The organization of the visit was supported by Professor Sokratis Katsikas from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
Notably, another important initiative aimed at raising awareness of innovations in the field of cybersecurity and expanding international collaboration was launched in November of this year. Within the framework of the Cyber4AM program, the Armenian delegation participated in the CONVERGENCE-2024 conference organized by the Trust in Digital Life Association in Brussels. The event focused on research, innovations, and the development of educational skills in the field of cybersecurity.
Prior to the conference, the Armenian representatives were welcomed by David Goodman, Senior Consultant at Trust in Digital Life, Abdelmalek Benzekri, partner of the Cyber4AM program (University of Toulouse), and Rodica Tirtea, Senior Policy Officer at European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (Bucharest).
The discussions addressed issues related to the implementation of the collaborative "Cybersecurity" master's program at Armenian universities and the introduction of cybersecurity mechanisms.
Such collaborations offer vast opportunities for creating innovative solutions, strengthening ties with international partners, and contributing to the development of Armenia's cybersecurity sector.
The Cyber4AM program is coordinated by French University in Armenia. The program serves as a unique platform for exchanging best practices among cybersecurity experts and expanding international collaboration, with the aim of contributing to the establishment of a national cybersecurity center in Armenia.
