Professor Athanasios Alexiou has been invited to the Faculty of Biology within the framework of the internal grant of YSU (Head: Dr. Abhishek Singh)․
From November 3 to 23, 2024, Professor Athanasios Alexiou has been invited to the Faculty of Biology as part of an internal grant from YSU, under the support and collaboration of the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Karen Ghazaryan and the Researcher Dr. Abhishek Singh.
Professor Alexiou is the Head of Research & Education at Funogen Research Company in Greece, an Adjunct Professor at the University Centre for Research & Development at Chandigarh University in India, and the Department of Science and Engineering at the Novel Global Community Education Foundation in Australia.
During his visit, Professor Alexiou will teach the course 'Basics of Biosafety,' which includes 45 hours of lectures and 4 hours of examination, to the students of the YSU Faculty of Biology. This course is an initiative of the Chair of Ecology and Nature Protection at Yerevan State University.
In his lectures, Professor Alexiou will introduce students to the biosafety norms applied in various fields of biology. He will emphasize the importance of maintaining biosafety and biosecurity in different research laboratories, ensuring that students clearly understand the nature of laboratory work and adhere to safety rules.
With 25 years of mentoring and educational experience, and as a Fellow of the International Institute of Biomedical Science in the UK, Professor Alexiou's lectures are pivotal for the future careers of the students at the Faculty of Biology, not only in Armenia but also in international research settings.
The YSU Faculty of Biology plans to establish ongoing cooperation with Professor Alexiou, which is crucial for gaining and sharing new professional knowledge and experience on the international stage. This collaboration aims to jointly develop and organize national and international programs in Greece and Armenia.
