General information
Within the framework of the presented project, it is planned to study the mechanisms of biological activity of plant extracts and the effect on antibiotic-resistant microorganisms. The main goal of the project is to develop natural preservatives, biologically active additives and other preparations (α-tested, TRL-5) with antimicrobial and antioxidant activity, which will be used in agriculture, food production, in preventive medicine and veterinary․Antioxidant, antimicrobial, antibiotic-modulatory activity of extracts isolated from plants (Vitis vinifera, Ocimum basilicum, Origanum vulgare, Artemisia dracunculus, Ribes nigrum and others) will be studied. Various microorganisms and cell lines of different origins, will be used as test systems. The metabolomics of plants as well as investigation of cytotoxicity of plant extracts will be implemented. The effect of extracts on bacterial cell membranesand on the model of diabetic nephropathy as well as cellular antioxidant activity will be investigated. The analysis of the results will be done by clarifying the action mechanisms of biologically active substances in the context of the demand for natural food/feed preservatives, the problem of resistance to antibiotics, and the prevention of human metabolic disorders.
