General information
The widely and currently uncontrolled use of pesticides has negative effects not only on the majority of endangered species listed in the Red Book of Armenia and in IUCN but also on the diversity of pollinators and finally, on human health. Pesticides have a particular place among different environmental pollutants since their application leads to the accumulation of residues and creates bases for unfavorable effects on the human organism. Therefore, our main scientific goal is to reveal the effect of pesticides such as bioaccumulation and ecogenotoxicity on species richness in the food chains "fungi, plants and animals'' from arable land in comparison with control areas at the mountain steppe ecosystem of Armenia. We expect that the proposed joint project of mycologists, zoologists, and genetics will create a scientific, educational and social base to support organic farming in Armenia.
