General information
Similarities play an important role in physics both from an applied and fundamental point of view. The subject of represented research proposal is the nonlinear optical phenomenon of generation of similariton pulses. In the research, the process of generation of similaritons in optical fibers in the negative range of group velocity dispersion will be studied. From the point of view of applications, the phenomenon of self-compression of the spectrum accompanying the formation of these pulses is also important, as well as the possibility of controlling the chirp of spectral domain.
It is planned to carry out experimental research aimed at the study of the mentioned phenomena in order to use it in the spectral interferometry and to develop a method for measuring ultrashort pulses with weak intensity. The expected result of the research is the generation of similariton pulses in a real experiment using special optical fibers (Hollow core photonic crystal fibers, nonlinear photonic crystal fibers, and single-mode PCF fibers) produced with the latest technology. In order to propose the applications of these similaritons, the identification of their phase characteristics and then obtaining the analytical characteristic of pulse profile are also among the problems under study.
