General information
The aim of the program is to examine the positions and practical influence of the main political and spiritual currents representing the “conservatives” and “reformists” in the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) on Tehran’s foreign policy towards the South Caucasus, from the beginning of Hassan Rouhani’s presidency to the election of Masoud Pezeshkian as IRI President (2013-2024). It will also attempt to reveal the impact of the aforementioned political directions on the conflictgenerating factors between the Republic of Armenia (RA) and the Republic of Azerbaijan (RA). This is relevant for understanding the theoretical issues present in the South Caucasus and RARA relations, as well as the IRI’s stance and policy towards the conflict-generating factors created after the recent war between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the context of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The study aims to provide research based on theoretical foundations, including shortterm and medium-term practical recommendations. This will involve an examination and analysis of the factors influencing IRI’s foreign policy towards the South Caucasus.
