Falsification of history and reality at the core of scientific studies. International conference at YSU
An international two-day conference titled "Falsification of History and Reality" dedicated to the Historian's Day was held at YSU. The purpose of the conference was to present the falsification of the historical events of the region and shed light on the real facts.
The choice of the title of the conference is related to the challenges faced by our state and society in recent years. The topics discussed were comprehensive and multifaceted. The reports were related to Artsakh, the different periods of Azerbaijan's policy towards Artsakh: the 19th century, the Soviet period, the years of independence, as well as questions related to the cultural genocide.
Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Rector of Yerevan State University, welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of the conference, the discussions and issues related to historiography. "I think that humanitarian scientific thinking should be developed in Armenia. It is necessary to translate our historical works, present them to our partner universities abroad and make them available for foreign scientists."
Mkhitar Gabrielyan, Dean of YSU Faculty of History, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor and ethnographer noted that the scientific conference became a platform for discussions, debates, clarifications, and planning the further steps. He emphasized that they wanted to show the aggressive policy of Azerbaijan and Turkey with the help of historical, cultural, ethnological reports and analysis of examples, processes and actions. "One of the main components of the anti-Armenian policy is the falsification of history, which is aimed at spreading hatred, enmity and fear towards Armenians. Following the rhetoric, we witness that the demands of Turkey and Azerbaijan for "peace" lead to the abandonment of history.
M. Gabrielyan added that in order to distinguish historical falsifications from accurate facts, the process of spreading accurate information about our history and culture should be activated on various platforms.
Edik Minasyan, Head of Chair of Armenian History of the Faculty of History, YSU, Associate Professor of Historical Sciences, Professor, valuing the presence of students and post-graduate students at the conference from the point of view of accumulating experience, emphasized the relevance of the discussed topics.
A. Melkonyan, Director of the Institute of History of the RA NAS and academician, M. Ponomariova, the Director of the Institute of History and International Relations, Southern Federal University, Associate Professor of Historical Sciences and others also made speeches at the conference.
It should be noted that representatives of scientific and expert communities from YSU, Khachatur Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical University, Institutes of History, Oriental Studies, Archaeology and Ethnography of RA NAS, "Matenadaran" Mesrop Mashtots Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, "Zoryan Institute of Armenia" International Foundation for Research and Development, as well as from Southern Federal University of the Russian Federation and other scientific and educational institutions participated in the two-day international conference.
