The YSU team won a ticket to the finals of the "ICPC" International Programming Olympiad
YSU students, participating in the "ICPC" International Programming Competition, achieved the best result.
According to the results of the quarter-finals of the "ICPC" International Programming Olympiad, 5 YSU teams were given the right to participate in the regional semi-final of the Northern Eurasia Finals of the "ICPC" competition.
The competition was held on December 13 of this year simultaneously in 4 cities: Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Astana and Kutaisi. 44 teams participated in the Kutaisi competition (12 from Armenia, 14 from Georgia and 18 from Azerbaijan). Overall, 276 teams participated in the competition in 4 cities.
As a result of the 5-hour competition, the YSU "SD3" team (team members were Samvel Andreasyan, Robert Kocharyan, Hamlet Petrosyan and the coach: Armen Andreasyan), solved 8 problems and won a ticket to the finals of the "ICPC" competition.
Among the 44 teams of the competition held in Kutaisi, the YSU "SD3" team showed the best result and was announced the champion of the South Caucasus. Thus, YSU becomes the champion of the South Caucasus for the second year in a row.
Overall, the "SD3" team took the 15th place and received a first-class diploma.
It should be noted that maximum 1 team from each university had the opportunity to participate in the finals. In total, 12 universities won a ticket to the finals.
During the 23 years of participation in these Olympiads, YSU teams have won a ticket to the finals for the 4th time. This is the best indicator for the universities of the South Caucasus.
On December 14 of this year, the individual programming Olympiad of the South Caucasus was held, where the participants with the best score solved 7 of the 10 problems.
6 out of 10 students who solved 7 problems are YSU students: Samvel Andreasyan, Sergey Grigoryan, Hamlet Petrosyan, Samvel Abelyan, Davit Margaryan and Robert Kocharyan.
It should be noted that the final stage of the competition, in which around 150 of the world's best teams will participate, will be held in Astana (Kazakhstan) in September 2024.
