Representing YSU is honorable and obligatory- Maria Yesayan
Maria Yesayan, a 4th year student of the YSU Faculty of International Relations, won the 2nd place in "Best Student" competition republican (interuniversity) stage in the field of human sciences with graduate educational program.
Maria talked about winning the 2023 competition for providing nominal scholarships to students with the best progress of Armenian universities, the role of YSU in her success story, future plans and goals.
When I am committed to doing something, I try to do it in the best way possible.
Being named The Best Student was one of my goals, which I successfully achieved. The path to victory was not easy: 4 years of work, constant searching, assimilation of new things and self-improvement... My family and friends have always been by my side during this period, but the quality education I received at YSU and the contribution of the teaching staff are invaluable in creating my professional path.
Winning the best student nomination is inspiring, but at the same time it is obligatory.
Realizing that I represented YSU in the competition and won is indescribably pleasant. I achieved this victory primarily due to the wealth of knowledge I received from YSU studying in the Department of Public Management of the Faculty of International Relations.
When choosing a faculty, I took into account several circumstances, the most important of which is the modernity and multi-functionality of the field. I am very happy with my choice and I am sure that if I were to choose a university and profession again, I would definitely choose YSU and the Department of Public Management of the Faculty of International Relations. The opportunities offered here are diverse, the educational foundation is solid, which creates new perspectives for every student.
I have been an active student since my first year in the university. Although due to the pandemic, the courses were held remotely in the first year, I was still involved in the Faculty Student Council (FSC) and participated in various events. It was at that time that I won the public speaking contest "Speak if you can" organized by the Student Council and won the first place. With this competition, it seems, the chain of my successes was formed.
One of the most important achievements of my life was that I went to Greece with the Erasmus+ international exchange program to study at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I studied at the Department of Political Science for 5 months. The experience and skills I gained there had a significant role my life.
My next important achievement was getting a job at the Armenian office of "World Vision" organization. Now I work there being included in the "Together against Trafficking in Persons" project, which is a great responsibility for me. Universal problems and finding their solutions are in my interest. Therefore, this is an extraordinary opportunity to achieve my goals.
I have been a member of the "European Youth Parliament" NGO for a year and have been a Young European Ambassador for the second year. Within the framework of the Eastern Partnership of the EU, representatives from 6 countries (Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus) are elected every year, who are called Young European Ambassadors. The elected representatives ensure the communication between their country and the EU, come up with new initiatives, raise the problems and challenges especially among the youth, propose possible solutions and take necessary steps.
I also actively participate in the activities of "Youth Opportunities Club", "Wings for the Future", "Armenian Progressive Youth" organizations.
I’ve started my activity in the field of science recently. I have already published an article titled "Sustainable development in the regions of Armenia" in the EU "Young European Ambassadors" (YED) journal. I have also researched sustainable development in Ijevan and Kapan communities and I intend to continue my research by studying other communities in Armenia as well.
Attaching important to contentious involvement in educational programs, I participated in a number of international courses on various topics in Armenia, Germany, and Romania. In the summer of 2023, I participated in online courses held by Harvard University and later by the University of Geneva. Having received scholarships, I successfully completed courses on "Leadership" and "Management of International Organizations" and received certificates.
The role of education received at YSU is invaluable.
In order to succeed, you have to strive, struggle, never give up and above all, believe. You should not miss the opportunity, you should try over and over, struggle stubbornly, and the result will not be long in coming.
It is quality education that will become the basis for multipolar development of the state in the near future. As Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
Professional knowledge in favor of country development...
I have a strong desire to continue my studies in a master's education program and I am more interested in the field of development studies.
My biggest goal is to be useful to humanity and my homeland by solving universal problems. I hope and believe that in the future I will have my contribution in solving various problems.
I will do my best to keep the name of the Republic of Armenia high on international platforms and represent it as it deserves.
