YSU is included in Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the first time
Times Higher Education World University Rankings presents the best universities in the world, highlighting the research mission.
Universities are ranked taking into account 5 performance indicators- teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.
YSU registered the highest indicators of teaching, research quality and international outlook among the above-mentioned performance indicators.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 include 1906 universities across 108 countries. In this list of world reputation rankings, four universities from Armenia are represented, among which only Yerevan State University is ranked.
It should be noted that YSU is represented in two of the three world reputation rankings ("Quacquarelli Symonds", "Times Higher Education", "Shanghai Ranking"): "Quacquarelli Symonds" and "Times Higher Education".
Head of YSU International Cooperation Department, Alexander Margarov, highlighting YSU's involvement in the best university ranking tables, noted that the number of universities participating in the ranking is generally too large, but not all of them manage to register high indicators.
"Being included in the best university ranking tables means that the university meets such international quality standards (quality of education, research, internationalization of the university) that are applied to higher education institutions today. In other words, being included in the ranking list is an indicator of quality itself," said Alexander Margarov.
He emphasized that being included in the ranking list makes the university visible to the world, both for foreign applicants and researchers: "We provide such a level of education, which makes the university the leader in our country and highly competitive in the RA higher education system. Thanks to the ranking, the university's international visibility increases for students from foreign universities, who can also apply to YSU to get a high-quality education, comparing our tuition policy with other leading universities."
According to Alexander Margarov being included in Times Higher Education World University Rankings proves that YSU scientific products meet international standards.
"In this context, cooperation between YSU and foreign researchers will also be expanded. We continue to work on improving our indicators, as the number of universities applying for the ranking increases every year, and it becomes more difficult to be included in the list of the world’s top universities," he said, adding that YSU, with its policies, continues to encourage the publication of scientific articles in high-ranking journals included in international scientific databases, as well as work to expand the number of foreign students and professors.
It should be emphasized that being included in the ranking list of World University rankings is an external assessment for YSU (to consider its strengths and weaknesses), which will contribute to making reforms in definite directions.
