Chemistry Mall Scientific School unites world-renowned leading specialists
The Chemistry Mall Scientific School was launched at YSU, during which world-renowned leading scientists delivered scientific reports and lectures on diverse chemistry domains, as well as presented the latest achievements and potential fields for their application.
The scientific school was organized as part of the cooperation between the YSU Chemistry Faculty, the Institute of Pharmacy and the Scientific Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at NAS RA. The school aimed to create a platform for young scientists, postgraduates, master’s and bachelor’s students, as well as high school students to explore science from a new perspective.
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan welcomed the attendees and highlighted the importance of hosting leading scientists at YSU: "As part of the Chemistry Mall Scientific School, a unique scientific environment has been created, uniting both Armenian and foreign leading specialists. The university attaches importance to the development of chemistry since it is one of the important directions of science. Pursuing this purpose, summer and winter chemistry schools have been organized many times at YSU. It is also noteworthy that the number of applicants to the Faculty of Chemistry this academic year has surpassed that of previous years."
YSU rector referred to the importance of chemistry, noting: "Taking into account that the role of chemistry is prioritized for the Armenian Government as well, we should multiply our efforts to achieve significant achievements in chemistry. To this end, YSU is committed to strengthening its collaboration with the international scientific community."
He also expressed hope that the school will become an ongoing initiative and emphasized that the university is always prepared to host leading specialists of the field.
Sahak Gasparyan, Director of the Scientific Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at NAS RA, also delivered a speech at the conference. He expressed hope that the participants will acquire new knowledge and learn about the innovations in the field through the school's framework.
Armen Galstyan, Deputy Dean of YSU Chemistry Faculty and Head of Chemistry Mall Scientific School pointed out that within the framework of the school, young scientists and students not only got acquainted with leading scientists but also had the opportunity to identify promising scientific directions in modern chemistry and determine the fields in which they would like to specialize in the near future.
"Ten lectures were organized as part of the scientific school. Each scientist presented their respective field, emphasizing the scope of accessibility and practical significance. Renowned scientists from leading universities in Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Russia, and several US states delivered scientific reports. Additionally, an online survey was conducted to assess the understanding of the lectures by students and high school attendees of the Chemistry Mall School, providing insights into their mastery of the topics covered in those ten lectures," said Armen Galstyan.
The second day of the Chemistry Mall Scientific School was held at the Scientific Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
