Valuing achievements and opportunities: YSU graduation ceremony
To formally bid farewell to the YSU graduates of 2023-2024, ensuring a memorable occasion that honors their achievements and successes throughout their studies, a distinguished graduation ceremony was held in the yard of Yerevan State University.
Every year, YSU sends thousands of graduates on a great professional journey, who join the ranks of the best specialists in various fields. They achieve professional success in various fields of science, education, culture, economic policy and public life. Around 3300 specialists will start their careers in Armenia and beyond Armenia, spreading the knowledge and system values they received at YSU. This year, the university has 2046 full-time and 418 part-time bachelor's degree graduates, as well as 667 full-time and 153 part-time master's degree graduates.
The YSU graduation ceremony began with the anthems of the Republic of Armenia and YSU. The YSU national anthem was performed by the choir of the Charles Aznavour Cultural Center.
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan wished success to the graduates of the 2023-2024 academic year and spoke about YSU's mission, noting: "As the most important center of the intellectual sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, the university must do everything to ensure that our state and society are continuously cultivated with motivated, knowledgeable personalities, who foster efficiency and development, change the environment, overcome difficulties and crises. This is our mission, all our efforts and plans must align towards this."
The YSU rector emphasized the importance of continuously enhancing and keeping YSU's educational programs in line with global priorities, alongside ongoing research and new scientific advancements.
In addressing this year's graduates, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan pointed out that the end of this educational period is an opportunity to evaluate the past path and set a perspective for the future. He encouraged them to seize this opportunity to build the future right.
During the graduation ceremony, Artyom Ghazaryan, a YSU graduate and Chief Executive Officer of Tel-Cell, shared insights into the advantages provided by YSU and the opportunities available to its graduates.
"It is a great honor for me to be here today and to send my best wishes to YSU graduates. Being a graduate of Yerevan State University means not only being a student of our country's high-ranking teaching staff, but also holding a special title that becomes more valuable over time.
When I was preparing to apply to the university, we were living in a small house. I had a cozy nook for my books and notebooks, where the picture of YSU's central building had its special place. It was my goal to get an education here," A. Ghazaryan told, pointing out that knowledge is the biggest and irreplaceable cornerstone and the driving force.
"Remember that in 20 years you will be grateful to the professors who demanded you to learn better, to constantly strive for more, and never settle for low scores. Keep learning, improving and becoming better every day. Love the homeland and do everything for the progress of our country. I wish you great achievements and a future full of success," said A. Ghazaryan.
Forty-two top-performing graduates from all YSU faculties received their graduation certificates.
Master Marine Mkrtchyan, from the YSU Faculty of Journalism, delivered a speech on behalf of YSU graduates, talking about university years, professional achievements and the pivotal role of YSU in shaping their journey.
"Like many of my fellow graduates, when I first entered the university, I never imagined that I would have one of the most memorable periods of my life. Looking back on the past five academic years, I realize that my most vivid memories are of the achievements I earned at the university through hard work. University life is not just about carefree days; it is a journey of tackling obstacles and overcoming challenges, during which the teaching staff guides us in navigating a dynamic world. They instill in us critical thinking skills and emphasize the importance of maintaining our identity through all stages of life."
The speeches were followed by a festive concert organized with the support of InecoPeople and Inecobank, featuring performances by the YSU Band, as well as musical bands Lav Eli and Darwin's Project.
