Mathematical directions central to discussions: YSU hosts international conference
Discussions revolved around various mathematical directions, including the theory of functions, harmonic analysis, linear and non-linear differential equations, and spectral analysis, at the international conference titled "Analysis, PDEs and Applications". The event brought together numerous prominent mathematicians.
The international conference titled "Analysis, PDEs and Applications" aimed to promote the further development of mathematical directions, particularly the theory of functions, harmonic analysis, complex analysis, linear and non-linear differential equations, spectral analysis, equations of mathematical physics, alongside certain directions of physics, in Armenian mathematical centers.
In the framework of plenary lectures and reports, renowned experts gathered from different countries discussed a number of important issues related to mathematics, put forward new ideas and methods, pointing out their practical applications.
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan delivered an opening speech at the conference. Attaching importance to holding such scientific events, he referred to the need for the involvement of young professionals in the field of science.
"Over the years, several pieces of scientific equipment have been acquired for Armenian scientific institutions, including Yerevan State University. This proves that the government pays significant attention to science, enabling us to keep our young generation in the university and engage young specialists in scientific pursuits. It is noteworthy that Yerevan State University leads Armenia in the publication of articles in Q1 and Q2 international journals, demonstrating its significant role as an educational and scientific institution contributing greatly to scientific advancement," Hovhannes Hovhannisyan said.
As part of the conference, active discussions revolved around the current state of mathematical research directions and underscored the imperative for further development, engaging experts from various countries.
"The conference is a distinctive school for both Armenian and foreign young scientists. It was preceded by the summer school of young scientists titled "Analysis, PDEs and Applications", which was attended by students and young researchers from Armenia and Europe," Professor Martin Grigoryan, Head of the Chair of Higher Mathematics at the YSU Institute of Physics and Co-Leader of the conference, stated.
He emphasized that cooperative relations with Ghent University, particularly with Michael Ruzhansky, began in 2016. Through sustained efforts, the partners have published a scientific article in a prestigious international journal. This conference is one of the unique manifestations of the bilateral scientific cooperation.
Regarding the conference's organization and cooperation with YSU, Michael Ruzhansky, Scientific Head of the Mathematics Department at Ghent University and overseeing the remote laboratory at YSU Mathematical Research Center, also serving as Co-Chairman of the conference, expressed optimism about the ongoing collaborative scientific efforts between the two universities.
"Our goal is to bring together scientists and foster a comprehensive understanding of research conducted across different countries. This also presents a valuable opportunity to organize a school under the same title, where leading mathematicians will deliver lectures to students. I should mention that we have made a number of mutual visits over the past year. We are committed to sustaining this collaboration and planning another scientific school next year," pointed out Michael Ruzhansky.
The conference was organized within the framework of the collaboration between Yerevan State University and Ghent University (Belgium). The conference was attended by a number of prominent mathematicians from various countries including Austria, France, Great Britain, Sweden, India, China, Mexico, and the USA.
