I am deeply grateful to my country and YSU for every achievement I have attained – student Garnik Baghdasaryan
To realize his dreams, Garnik Baghdasaryan chose YSU and achieved many milestones while shaping his professional path, one of which was being awarded the title "YSU Best Student".
He is currently in his fourth year at the YSU Institute of Physics. Garnik shares insights about student life and his future plans.
I applied to YSU, because…
Yerevan State University stands out as the premier educational institution, fostering an environment conducive to progress and development in the field of science. It equips students with essential skills and offers opportunities for establishing and strengthening international connections. Additionally, my sister, who also studied at YSU, frequently praised the academic environment, which motivated me to connect the realization of my dreams only with YSU. I recognized that high-quality education is a prerequisite for achieving my goals.
Having a dream…
I applied to the YSU Institute of Physics, because my dream is to contribute to the development of the military industry in Armenia. I am eager to make a meaningful impact in this sector.
Having joined the RA Armed Forces in 2019, I participated in the 44-day war. During my service, I received several honors, including the "Excellent of the Armenian Army," "Brave Warrior," and "Combat Duty" badges, as well as the "For Courage" medal. I have always strived for excellence in every environment.
The title "YSU Best Student"…
Initially, I did not plan to apply for the competition, but on the advice of my professors, I decided to participate. I was honored to receive the title, which is a significant achievement and a reminder of my commitment to continually move forward and never retreat. This accolade stands as one of my proudest accomplishments.
In the university…
In my first year, my primary focus was solely on studying. Over time, I became more engaged in student life, joining the YSU Student Scientific Society and participating in various events, seminars, and international conferences. This year, I took part in the Article Writing School organized by YSU, where I learned how to write a scientific article and express ideas clearly and effectively. Additionally, I have competed in several scholarship award competitions and have been recognized as a winner on multiple occasions. Last year, I was honored with the first-class "Best Bachelor" award in the field of Information Technologies.
During my studies, we organized various seminars to introduce school-age children to YSU, inform them about science, and particularly highlight the field of physics with engaging experiments. Our goal was to immerse them in the academic environment, provide valuable information, and help them explore potential career paths. After all, physics is important and the profession of a physicist is interesting.
As I moved forward, I realized that I had made the right choice. At YSU, I have been guided to discover numerous opportunities.
Now…
I work as a laboratory assistant at the A. Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory, where we study elementary particles, their interactions, and dark energy. We also research new processes involving various particles. The work is fascinating because we deal with immense energy systems that are invisible to the naked eye. In essence, we explore the existence of the whole world to understand the origins of materials, bodies, and the dark energy that permeates it.
I love my work, but I understand that progress requires ongoing professional development and staying informed about innovations in the field. This is why I am eager to continue my education abroad—to enhance my knowledge and use it for the benefit of my country.
Regardless of where I am, I am deeply grateful to my country and my university for every achievement I have attained.
