Conference with international museologists held
YSU History Museum named after Professor L. Gharibjanyan recently hosted a conference titled "Museum Professionalism and Ethics in Difficult Times", focusing on the challenges of preserving cultural heritage.
Mikayel Hovhannisyan, the Vice-Rector for Development and Innovation at YSU, emphasized the significance of organizing events like these. He noted that the YSU History Museum actively participates in various initiatives, providing students with opportunities to gain new knowledge through university partnerships.
"I think that the agreements made between institutional leaders gain real value through such events, as they are essential for creating meaningful content," he stated.
Specialists from various museums and research centers worldwide, including those from the USA, Iran, Norway, and North Korea, shared their museological experiences with students through group work. During this, they addressed ethical considerations in the use of artificial intelligence, as well as the preparation of museum staff for wars and emergencies. They emphasized the invaluable role of preserving cultural heritage for all of humanity.
The conference was organized by YSU History Museum named after Professor L. Gharibjanyan, the History Museum of Armenia, and the National Committee of Armenian Museums of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
Over the past two days, the conference took place at the History Museum of Armenia, featuring speeches from both international and Armenian experts, thanks to the efforts of the History Museum of Armenia and the National Committee of Armenian Museums of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
